Local Mash-Up Rock ‘n Roll Musical Troupe brings Prince and David Bowie back to life in a high-energy production that cannot be seen anywhere else in the world.
Sometime in the future, after the almost-end-of-the-world, a group of castaways band together for survival, making a home in an abandoned train depot. To pass the time they tell stories about the the Little Prince and the Man From Mars, two spectacular alien beings who crashed to Earth and experienced the best and worst of humanity. Featuring music from Prince and David Bowie, the story is a twisted reimagining of the revered Antoine de Saint-Exupery novella, The Little Prince, and the cult classic Bowie film, The Man Who Fell to Earth.
The Mash-Up Rock ‘n Roll Musical Troupe have brought their original mash-up musicals to Traverse City since 2014, including their previous productions of How Grinchy Met the Who, Grimm’s Alternative Fairytales, The Sound of Uzis, and Bromeo vs. The Juliettes. Mash-Up shows combine not only parodies and great music, but also irreverent comedy, moments of improv and audience participation. The troupe’s mission is to give voice to stories that would otherwise be unheard, which at their heart seek to promote tolerance and inclusion.
For this production the troupe has been working with local interpreter services to incorporate ASL into the show, and will have one performance with a dedicated interpreter for the audience.
