PepeNero + Ballaró Wine Lounge

PepeNero is a cozy and intimate restaurant snuggled inside the Village at Grand Traverse Commons. Owners Giorgio and Monica Lo Greco are experienced professionals who know how to amaze your palate by preparing simple, genuine Italian food utilizing the gift of fresh seasonal ingredients from local markets and the high quality of imported Italian products.

Giorgio, our chef is a magician when it comes to cooking. He was born and raised in sunny Sicily, the largest of Italian islands, in a culture with a strong, stable culinary tradition, where people take great pleasure in food, and dining is an experienced to be savored. That is where his involvement in the world of culinary arts begun, and continued as a way to travel and see the world. In 2011 together with his wife Monica, decided to leave his homeland and make the leap to Traverse City, to deliver a chunk of true Italian life style to the Grand Traverse Area.

When dining at PepeNero you will not only enjoy the delicious food made by Giorgio, but will also meet his wife Monica. She is the soul of the "PepeNero“ and she cares for her guests with utmost dedication and pleasure. “Our vision was to open a restaurant that will resemble to one on the streets of Palermo, Italy: a place that we will frequent ourselves: intimate, laid back, usually buzzing with conversations and people enjoying freshly cooked real Italian food matched with excellent wines and genuine service."

We place great emphasis on the relationship between the wines on our list and the food that we serve. Our wine list offers something for everyone. Our goal is to take our guests to refreshingly new levels of Italian food and wine enjoyments. Even though you’re not in Italy (and probably not even Italian!) PepeNero will make you feel that you are.

It is with this simple thought in mind that we invite you to join us to celebrate and be a part of our family!
