About Direct care worker

MI Independent Living LLC Employees provide direct support in activities of daily living, as outlined in individuals Person Centered Plans. Provides support in a manner that promotes growth, health, community involvement, safety, dignity and respect for individuals. Collaborates and communicates with co-workers and individuals’ support team to promote a positive and productive working environment. Contributes to the day to day operation of the home, in a safe and cost efficient manner. Identifies opportunities for improvement and actively participates in their implementation. Supports culturally competent recovery-based practices and person centered planning as a shared decision making process.

 

Responsibilities and duties:

Assist with activities of daily living such as preparing meals and assisting with personal hygiene, all while maintaining everyone’s respect and dignity

Actively work with clients to help them achieve their personal goals and record their progress

Administer medication and document medication

Respond to crisis situations responsibly and appropriately

Ensure that clients maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable home

Safely operate agency vehicles as necessary

Work with your manager to improve your skills and advocate for your clients

Follow all policies and procedures as outlined by MI Independent Living LLC

Complete all documentation responsibilities and maintain confidentiality

Participate in all trainings required by MI Independent Living LLC

Ability to show dedication to schedule and arrive to shift in a timely fashion

Job description may vary based on the needs of the consumer

To qualify, you are REQUIRED to have:

A High School Diploma or GED

First aid and CPR (Preferred but training will be provided)

A Valid Unrestricted Driver License in Michigan 

A passing criminal background check

When you receive an offer to join MI Independent Living LLC, you will be required to attend and complete online paid mandatory trainings.

Required skills:

Basic computer literacy and skills

The ability to read and write English

The ability to lift or transfer at least 50 lbs.

The ability to sit, bend, squat, reach, and stand for several hours at a time

Preferred skills:

Good judgement and common sense

The ability to remain calm in crisis situations

Compassion, empathy, and patience

A desire for personal growth
