About Manager North Flight Ground Support


The Manager, Ground Support manages the day-to-day North Flight support departments, including, but not limited to: quality assurance, IS, staff education and training, dispatch and Zoll software. This position has primary responsibility over North Flight, contracts and data collection and reporting. Participates in budgetary planning/implementation, billing and collections and payroll systems.


Graduate from a state-approved EMS program with current Paramedic licensure in the State of Michigan required.

Associates degree in Healthcare related field preferred.

Previous leadership or management experience preferred.

I/C license required within six (6) months of hire.

Three (3) years paramedic experience in an active Advanced Life Support (ALS) EMS System required.

Current certification in the following required:

  • American Heart Association’s Advanced Cardiac Life Support

  • International Trauma Life Support (ITLS) or Prehospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS)

  • CPR Certification

  • American Heart Association’s (AHA) Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)

  • American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)

  • National Incident Management System (NIMS) courses 100, 200, 700, 800

  • NIMS 300 & 400 required in one (1) year of hire

Successful completion of the following required:

  • North Flight and applicable medical control authority written and/or oral protocol examinations

  • Munson Medical Center/Munson Healthcare pre-employment physical examination and North Flight physical agility test

  • North Flight EMS Orientation Program

Effective verbal, written presentation skills required.

Computer literacy/skills required.


This position reports to the General Manager North Flight

This individual has continuous working relationships with North Flight coordinators and clinical employees, area Medical Control Authority Managers and Medical Directors, as well as hospitals, agencies/providers, MDCH, and the area medical community.

  8. Exhibits positive leadership skills and maintain favorable relationships within the medical and greater community, including the public, management, governmental agencies and other area emergency service providers.

  9. Works to develop and maintain public relations and community service programs.

  10. Functions within approved North Flight policies and protocols for pre-hospital and inter-hospital advanced life support.

  11. Participates in on-going quality improvement/assurance programs and associated in-services/meetings.

  12. Plans, supervises and coordinates activities and be willing to engage in quality improvement efforts.

  13. Is self-motivated, works with minimal supervision, and exercises good judgment in management decisions to accomplish desired objectives.

  14. Ability to identity and research specific problems/concerns, analyze and present solutions, including those involving staff and hospital departments.

  15. Is innovative and makes recommendations regarding improvements in patient care and operations.

  16. Must be able to foster, create, lead and participate in teams in a positive manner.

  17. Identifies and assists in meeting professional and educational needs of self and staff.

  18. Provides direct patient care as a paramedic.

  19. Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
