With its classic Victorian neighborhoods and authentic Americana downtown, Frankfort stands as one of the Lake Michigan’s most captivating marina towns. When the weather warms, charter fishing boats rock shoulder to shoulder, bristling with fishing poles, in the well protected port, and sailors cruising the Lake Michigan shore pull in for the night to shop for provisions and wander the shopping district. Frankfort’s vast Lake Michigan beach and long fishing pier draw vacationers for the day or the entire summer, making it a premier vacation destination. Frankfort is also known as the southern gateway to Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore, voted as the Most Beautiful Place in America by viewers of Good Morning America. Surrounded as it is by so much water, Frankfort pulses with all forms of water sports: kayaking, surfing, paddleboarding, canoeing, powerboating, sailing, scuba diving and fishing. The highly respected Midwest ski and golf resort Crystal Mountain is a short drive from Frankfort’s main street.
