PETOSKEY: North Central Michigan College’s Corporate and Community Education department is offering a wide variety of winter workshops in Petoskey. The variety of classes offered are endless! Learn about Northern Michigan beer, wine, and farming, or exercise with a yoga or karate class. There are classes about literature, film, art, and professional growth. Get out of the house and enjoy these great presentations in January.

New this winter is the free Lunch Break Learning on Wednesdays from noon to 1 p.m. in the Student and Community Resource Center, Room 536. Bring your lunch or pick up a treat from the Iron Horse Café. We’ll provide coffee, cookies and great discussions led by North Central instructors. Please register in advance. First session is on Storyboarding on January 20.

Want to take better photos? The Art of Good Photography will run on Tuesdays from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on January 12, 19 and 26. Taught by Robyn Scott, award-winning photographer, each session is $20 or $50 for the series.

Join Cristin Popelier Hosmer, grape grower, winemaker, wine and craft beverage consultant from Traverse City for an in-depth discussion of the economic realities of wine production and selling. These workshops run from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on January 21 and February 11.

So you want to be a beekeeper? Learn how on Wednesday, January 27 from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. with Dr. Meghan Milbrath.

Once again there will be Yoga for Everyone on Mondays from January 25 through March 28, 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. and karate on Tuesdays and Thursdays, January 12 through March 29 from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.

These workshops will be held in the Student and Community Resource Center on the NCMC Petoskey campus.

Finally, North Central professors offer Life Long Learning classes at the Petoskey District Library starting with Women and Madness in Literature, Wednesdays, from January 13 to 27, 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. with novelist Suzanne Shumway.

All NCMC workshops (unless otherwise noted) will be held on the Petoskey campus. Please register for workshops in advance to guarantee enough students and materials.
